A day in the seminary
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
Life in the Seminary is marked by regular times of prayer: 6:15am Morning Prayer, 1pm Midday Prayer, and in the afternoon, there is a time for personal prayer. At 6pm the Holy Eucharist is celebrated with Evening Prayer.
Every day the seminarians are invited to spend time reading and meditating on Sacred Scripture and once a week the seminarians meet together to attend the Scrutatio Scripture (Lectio Divina).
The seminarians are invited to spend some time in prayer with the Blessed Sacrament every day. On Sunday evening, there is a common liturgy of Solemn Vespers with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. Every seminarian attends spiritual direction every week with our Spiritual Director.
ACCADEMIC FORMATION
As part of their academic formation, our seminarians attend St Patrick’s Pontifical University in Maynooth, Co. Kildare. The Seminarians then spend part of their afternoons studying and preparing for their exams.
HUMAN FORMATION
The Seminarians are involved in the day to day life of the Seminary and they take turns serving others during meals, cleaning dishes or working in the house.
PASTORAL FORMATION
At the end of the academic formation, or after completion of their philosophical studies, the seminarians spend a period of two or three years doing pastoral work during a period of mission. The time of mission gives them, once again, the opportunity to engage in multi-cultural evangelization
